The City's Street Division maintains an estimated 67 miles of streets and alleys within the municipal bounds. This includes patching potholes, sweeping streets, striping & signing streets, cleaning storm drainage systems, removing snow and ice during winter and chip sealing designated streets each summer. The Street Division is also actively involved in coordinating and carrying out the City's Large Item Pick-up Service program. They are also available to assist with a variety of annual community events including the July 3 & 4 parades.

Chip Sealing 2010
This year's chip sealing is tentatively scheduled to begin on August 9th.  Please see the Chip Seal Ad 2010 for a complete listing of those streets to be chip sealed.  A map of the areas is also available.  This work is dependent upon the weather.

Upcoming Street Closures
-Blackburn Street, from the north side of Cougar Avenue to the south side of Pioneer Avenue will be closed for the installation of underground utilities from August 5th-6th.
-The alley running from 12th Street to 13th Street, between Sheridan Avenue and Beck Avenue, will be closed August 5th-6th for work on the overhead power line.

Call Before You Dig
Please remember that if you are digging on your property or in the City right-of-way to Call Before You Dig at 800-849-2476 or 811. This free service of One-Call of Wyoming contacts all area utility companies to mark the utility lines BEFORE you begin to dig. This service is essential for safe digging within the city limits.

  • Encroachment Permit Application
    •  To apply for an encroachment permit complete and sign this application and submit it to City Hall at 1338 Rumsey Ave or fax to 307-527-6532. The permit fee is $30.00; if you will be storing anything in the City right of way a deposit of $150 is also required and must be paid at the time the application is submitted. No person will be eligible to receive a permit to work in any public right-of-way unless said person is an employee of an approved utility operating under a franchise agreement with the City of Cody or said person has provided proof of $500,000 commercial general liability insurance and has a license and/or permit bond bound unto the City of Cody in the amount of $25,000.00. Your permit is not valid until you have been notified that your application is approved. If you have any questions please contact Administrative Services at 307-527-7511.
