Recreation Programs

The City's Recreation Division is excited to offer many recreation and fitness activities in a variety of locations including the Paul Stock Aquatic and Recreation Center, City parks and other facilities throughout the community.

What's Happening at the Recreation Center?

Where did the time go? Recreation staff is asking themselves the same question as you are most certainly. It's been a busy summer full of exciting programs and events once again! This summer we've been so excited about the turn out for our many new and innovative offerings as well as the tried and true events such as the Runner's Stampede and Summer Sprint Tri. For race results, click Runner's Stampede 5K Walk, Runner's Stampede 5K Run, Runner's Stampede 10K Run or Summer Sprint Triathlon.

There's still plenty of time to get in on a new fitness class, sign the kids up for some great activities, and generally enjoy all the Recreation Department has to offer. Check out our current Recreation Times for a detailed list of aquatic, fitness and recreation programs for participants of all ages here. A registration form also is available to download in order to save you time during the registration process. Fill out the form with your pertinent information, print and make sure all signatures are filled in correctly before bringing it along with payment to the Recreation Center to enroll in classes or activities of your choice.

The City is thankful for the interest program participants show in our ever-expanding list of activities. It is also important to note that many of the programs offered are only available through the generous volunteers who give of their time to assist with the activities. We extend a great big THANK YOU to the community for all their support and generosity.

For additional information on any fitness or recreation programs, you may contact Recreation staff at 307.587.0400 or email the Recreation Supervisor.

After School and Summer Day Camp Programs

The City of Cody has offered quality after school care for the past 15 years in addition to summer day camp programming to meet the needs of our community's busy families.

ASAP - After School Activities Program
The City of Cody's After School Activities Program (ASAP) has been providing innovative programming for working families for more than a decade. Each program day our highly qualified staff  (all college-age or older!) use music, color and movement to encourage positive student:adult interaction, involvement, learning, and retention. These methods help us bring more joy to teaching and learning with ever-increasing "Aha!" moments of discovery.

Our program structure helps staff present content in a way that engages and energizes students and integrates life skills with learning, resulting in students who are effective, lifelong learners responsible for their own education. Each afternoon students enjoy a nutritious snack; free time outside on the playground or indoors in the gym depending on weather conditions; group activities; wacktivities ranging from math and science experiments, arts and crafts, cooking and more; and HomeFUN tutoring (available Monday through Thursday) before we all work together to clean up our program space and close out our day.

ASAP is structured for students in Kindergarten through 6th grades and runs throughout the school year operating Monday through Friday. Hours of operation are from school dismissal until 6 p.m. The program is housed Monday through Thursday in the science lab at Eastside Elementary School. Fridays, following more extensive group projects at Eastside, we travel together to the Recreation Center where students are able to swim, play in the gyms and take part in a variety of recreation programs.

All fees must be paid at the Recreation Center front desk in advance of attendance. ASAP is a registered childcare provider with the Department of Family Services and these contracts are accepted for payment of fees if needed.

ASAP begins the first day of school. For more information or to register your child for ASAP please contact staff members at 307.250.8362 or email ASAP staff. You may also download and fill out a registration packet and current brochure for more details on this innovative after school program. Parents can also download monthly calendars to keep track of their children's attendance at ASAP and help staff track which students are expected each day. Thank you for taking the time to fill out and return these calendars on a timely basis.

ASAP Fees:

  • Regular Days (Monday - Thursday; 3:20 to 6 p.m.) :: $6/first child :: $5/each additional child
  • Friday Early Dismissal Days (1:40 to 6 p.m.) :: $10/first child :: $8/each additional child
KIDZ ON THE MOVE
The City of Cody summer day camps offer students who have completed Kindergarten through 6th grades
an action-packed, fun-filled day of activities. We offer three grade-specific camps to better serve our families: DISCOVERERZ is geared for children who have completed Kindergarten and 1st grades; EXPLORERZ welcomes youth who have finished 2nd and 3rd grades; and ADVENTURERZ engages tweens who've completed 4th through 6th grades.

Each summer, camps focus on different weekly themes based on an overall theme such as  Around the World, the Wild West, or Everybody Loves a Circus. This past summer's theme was the WONDERS OF WYOMING. At camp, we incorporate local and regional field trips, arts and crafts, sports and recreation opportunities, guest speakers, and a variety of other high-energy, interactive activities. These camps are based out of the Recreation Center although much of our day is spent "On the Move" in the community at our many parks and other attractions.

Day camp hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Cost of the program is quite affordable compared with other options in our community, and flexible daily, weekly or monthly scheduling is available. Plus, as a registered childcare provider with the Department of Family Services, these contracts are accepted for payment of day camp fees if needed. Kidz on the Move begins at the end of the school year, providing fun and enrichment for nine weeks throughout  summer break.

Staff invites families who participated in Kidz on the Move during summer 2010 to complete and submit an evaluation of our programs. Please download an evaluation here and email your responses to ASAP staff. We thank you for your time and support!
