The City of Cody is governed by a Mayor elected at-large and six Councilmembers elected to serve three wards.  In 1998, the Governing Body passed a Charter Ordinance moving day-to-day operation of the City's functions to a professional City Administrator, while allowing the community to continue electing a Mayor and Councilmembers.

Mayor and City Council
Mayor Roger Sedam's term of office began in January of 2005.  He is a long-term member of the community who served as a City Councilmember in the 1980s.  Sedam is a local business owner and community volunteer, currently serving on the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Chamber Board and is a member of the Cody Lions Club.  He can be contacted at mayorroger@cityofcody.com or by calling City Hall at 307.527.7511.

Ward 1 Councilmembers:
Jona Vanata was elected to City Council in 2007, and will serve in her position through 2011.  Councilmember Vanata can be contacted at 307.587.2714 or by email at jonav@bresnan.net.

Cliff Main was appointed to his initial City Council position in 2003.  He successfully ran for election to a four-year term beginning in 2005 and will serve in his position through 2008.  Councilman Main can be contacted at 307.527.6587 or by email at ccmain@bresnan.net.

Ward 2 Councilmembers:
Samuel Krone was elected to a four-year City Council term that began in January of 2003.  He was re-elected to office in November of 2006 and his term of office will continue through 2011.  Councilmember Krone can be contacted at 307.587.4530.

Paul E. Rankin was elected to a four-year term beginning in 2005.  He will serve in this position through 2008.  Councilmember Rankin can be contacted at 307.587.9523 or by email at perankin@msn.com.

Ward 3 Councilmembers:
Nancy Brown was elected to City Council in 2007.  She successfully ran for election for a four-year term beginning in 2007 and will serve in this position through 2011.  Councilmember Brown can be contacted at 307.527-7271 or by email at nancy@bighorngalleries.com.

Steve Miller was elected to a four-year term beginning in 2005.  He will serve in this position through 2008.  Councilmember Miller can be contacted at 307.587.2156 or by email at steveforcouncil@yahoo.com.

All City Councilmembers can also be contacted through the City of Cody's general e-mail address at codycity@cityofcody.com.  Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  They are broadcast live on Public Access Channel 16.

City Administrator
The City Administrator is appointed by the Governing Body and serves the community through guidelines established in the charter ordinance. The Governing Body establishes goals, policies and initiatives and adopts an annual budget for staff to implement plans for the year. The City Administrator uses all available resources to ensure the goals are met on behalf of the Cody community.

Cody's City Administrator is Mr. McFerrin Anderson "Andy" Whiteman, who moved from California to take the position, with his wife, Jeanne, in early 2007.
